About Position

The five essential responsibilities of this role are the following:

  1. Support Revenue & Resource Management: The Associate Director is responsible for supporting the Studio Director in their two primary roles: (1) ensuring that all architectural work is of a quality that results in paid invoices and (2) adjusting the distribution of resources to achieve those results.
  2. Review Project Design & Documentation: The Associate Director is responsible for ensuring project excellence through both regular design reviews and regular documentation reviews. This requires deep expertise in crafting clear design concepts as well as an understanding of all phases of a project lifecycle.
  3. Unblock Service Department: The Associate Director is responsible for helping project teams “break through ceilings”, referring to the challenges that require additional leadership to overcome. This requires coaching, mentoring, motivating, and training teams of 2 -6 people.

To do this well, the Associate Director must clearly comprehend the Laney LA vision and core values and commit to coaching individuals in an effort to help them go farther than they could on their own.
