The four essential responsibilities of this role are the following:
Documentation & QA/QC: The Technical Architect is responsible for elevating documentation standards, and ensuring QA/QC excellence on all residential and commercial projects. This requires deep knowledge of the project lifecycle and a passion for leading the production of details in 2D and 3D software and redlining. The Technical Architect must ensure high quality documentation deliverables.
BIM Leadership:The Technical Architect is responsible for overseeing the development and streamlining of BIM technology within the studio. This requires deep understanding of ArchiCAD tools, production workflows, BIM methodologies, and standard protocols.
Construction Administration Oversight:The Technical Architect is responsible for ensuring all projects are “on track” during the construction administration phase and that design intent is preserved. This requires that contractors are satisfied through artful service, timely and profession communication, and prioritized coordination.
Lead, Manage and Hold Accountable:The final responsibility of the Technical Architect is to lead, manage, and hold accountable a BIM Manager and documentation experts in ArchiCAD leadership. In addition, the Technical Architect shall act as mentor to the broader team of architects in regards to documentation, construction, and BIM technology.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
10-15 years of experience in high-end residential, commercial, and interiors projects at all phases of the project life cycle
License preferred but not required
Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Architecture, or a relevant professional degree
Deep expertise in construction documentation
Mastery of ArchiCAD
The ability to visually communicate design through drawings, diagrams, and details with expertise and precision
Experience leading teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong leadership and self-motivation
Excellent delegation skills
Highly skilled technically
High level of intrinsic design competence
Experience with assembling highly complex drawing sets
Good awareness of design, industry trends, materials, and the aptitude to translate these ideas
Punctual & organized
Knowledge of California Building Codes
