Laney LA is an award-winning architecture and design studio driven by the conviction that great architecture can inspire the best in humanity - moving those who experience it, shaping neighborhoods, and impacting the way we steward our environment. Based in Los Angeles, the studio specializes in residential projects along the western coast and mountain ranges of the United States.

With a global roster from Canada to Mongolia, Laney LA is a place where diverse minds gather, focused on the simultaneous pursuit of critical discourse and vibrant culture. Conscious of architecture’s ability to connect our lives with nature, their projects seek symbiosis between the built and natural environment, and have been recognized by the 2023 AIA Los Angeles Residential Honor awards and the 2022 Dezeen Longlist.

Ultimately, Laney LA’s approach requires an embrace of the tension between sustainability and affordability, nostalgia and progress, rigorous design and artful service. For there is strength found in tensility, and beauty found in paradox.

Anthony Laney, AIA

Architect, Partner

Anthony is the founding partner and visionary leader of Laney LA. Recognized as an emerging voice in the architecture community, his work has received numerous accolades, including an Honor Award from his local AIA chapter, and a Residential Architecture Honor Award from the AIA|LA. Anthony speaks frequently on the topics of design and entrepreneurship, and has taught design communication and drawing at the USC School of Architecture. His gift is bringing out the best in creative teams and adventurous clients.

Mebra Kisaka

Chief Operating Officer, Integrator

Mebra Kisaka is an accomplished business professional with extensive experience in organizational development, strategic planning, and team building. A Los Angeles native, she graduated with her master’s from USC’s Marshall School of Business, and now serves as the studio’s chief operating officer. Her role encompasses oversight of the studio’s growth, its various departments, and ultimately, its financial success. While she has built a reputation for solving strategic challenges and cultivating high performance teams, her true specialty is aligning people and processes to unlock focused performance.

Krista Laney

Designer, Partner
Designer, Partner

Trained in architecture design at USC’s school of architecture and the renowned engineering firm Buro Happold, Krista is a founding partner of Laney LA, and is, in many ways, the cornerstone of the company. She has led the curation and tastemaking of Laney LA’s material research and applications. While her role continues to evolve over time, she is currently serving as an advisor to the leadership team, a resource to the design team, and mother and educator for her children. We’re not sure how she does it all either.

Jacob Sertich, AIA

Senior Associate

With an educational background in chemistry and architecture, Jacob’s unique skillset weaves elegant design out of complex parameters. His approach involves intensive research, pinpointing interactive opportunities between objects in order to craft a purposeful, elevated homes. Trained at UCLA and winner of the Chao-DI Su award for best masters thesis project, Jacob brings immense drive and deep intellectual curiosity to the range of architectural and interior projects under his rigorous supervision.

Ezgi Üstüner

Trained at Yasar University in Turkey, Ezgi supports the Laney LA team in her pursuit of excellence through the creation of intentional and timeless architecture. With an extensive background in project management and Archicad, Ezgi provides a unique and attentive perspective to each project. Paired with her ability to blend thoughtful design with functional architecture, Ezgi betters Laney LA by bringing a genuine attitude and strong work ethic to the studio on a daily basis.

Selina Tirona

Graduating with a bachelor's from SCI-Arc, Selina brings a fresh perspective and a spirit of curiosity to our team. Born and raised in Germany, she has traveled to over 60 countries, experiencing the richness of different cultures and architecture. This global exposure enables her to provide unique and world-class design support, broadening our outlook at Laney LA. This passion branches into all aspects of life, especially in her love for ocean activities such as surfing and free diving.

Mengru Wang, AIA

With a global perspective shaped by her work in Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo, and Beijing, Mengru blends technical tenacity with a deep curiosity for how design shapes daily life. A licensed architect with a Master’s from Washington University in St. Louis, she has contributed to a diverse range of residential and cultural projects. Mengru's thoughtful approach balances big-picture vision with meticulous detailing, resulting in spaces that feel both intentional and innovative. Outside the studio, she finds inspiration exploring new places, hiking LA’s trails, and hunting down great food.

Sascha Mohkami, AIA

Sascha is a licensed architect with a lifelong passion for residential design and the details that bring it to life. A graduate of UCLA, he brings behind-the-scenes knowledge from years spent in engineering offices, permit expediting, and hands-on model building. A natural problem-solver, Sascha is known for his clean diagrams, nimble illustrations, and deep expertise in ArchiCAD. His quiet rigor and technical fluency make him a steady and trusted presence on projects from concept through construction.

Buyan began his career in finance before pursuing his passion for design at the NewSchool of Architecture in San Diego. After graduating at the top of his class, he dove into his career in the states and hasn’t looked back. Beyond his humble spirit and open curiosity, he possesses an ability to intuitively distill designs in order to catapult them even farther.

A native of Kenya, Georgia knew she wanted to be an architect by the age of 14. Underwriting her professional ambitions is a powerful drive to create meaningful impact in the residential built environment - especially in her home country. A graduate of Columbia and Syracuse University, she blends architecture with film, fashion, and advocacy, using design as a tool to amplify marginalized voices. Whether crafting complex design solutions or producing her own films, Georgia brings fearless energy and a deep sense of purpose to every project.

With a multidisciplinary background, Michelle first began her career in business and entertainment before returning to University of California, Los Angeles to pursue interior design. With her experience in residential design and administration, Michelle prioritizes the dialogue with the client beyond anything else and finds that the story being told begins and ends with the human experience.

Raised in the South Bay, she pairs West Coast warmth with a meticulous eye for detail as she keeps schedules tight, projects on track, and teammates supported. Her background in logistics makes her the go-to for solving problems before they start. When she’s not keeping the studio dialed, you’ll find her on wheels at a roller derby match or soaking up the outdoors with her dog.
