About Position

The five essential responsibilities of this role are the following: 

Design Oversight:

The Senior Associate is responsible for establishing exceptional design concepts and ensuring design excellence on multiple residential projects.

Documentation & QAQC:

The Senior Associate is responsible for managing a high volume of projects and must have significant experience in producing comprehensive documentation sets. This requires possessing a passion for producing in 2D and 3D software, redlining, and ensuring high quality deliverables.

Client & Consultation Communication:

The Senior Associate is responsible for ensuring client satisfaction through white glove service, timely and professional communication, and prioritized coordination. The Senior Associate must also effectively coordinate outside consultants, vendors, and contractors in order to achieve project schedule and design intent goals.

Work Plan Authorship:

The Senior Associate is responsible for ensuring all projects are “On-track” for client satisfaction, design excellence, man hours, schedule, and invoicing. This requires deep expertise in the management of a critical path, and an ability to quickly master in-house project management tools. 

Lead, Manage and Hold Accountable:

The final responsibility of the Senior Associate is to lead, manage, and hold accountable a team of designers and associates. To do this well, the Senior Associate must clearly comprehend the Laney LA vision and core values and commit to coaching individuals in an effort to help them go farther than they could on their own.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 8 -15 years of experience in high-end residential projects at all phases of the project life cycle
  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Architecture
  • Licensed Architect preferred, but not required
  • Deep expertise in construction documentation
  • Working knowledge of ArchiCAD
  • The ability to visually communicate design through drawings, diagrams, and details with expertise and precision
  • Experience leading teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership and self-motivation
  • Excellent delegation skills
  • Highly skilled technically
  • High level of intrinsic design competence
  • Experience with assembling highly complex drawings sets
  • Good awareness of design, industry trends, materials, and the aptitude to translate these ideas 
  • Punctual & organized
  • Knowledge of California Building Codes
