Set on a corner lot in East Manhattan Beach, the home reverses the familiar suburban plan by transforming the front yard into its primary outdoor gathering space, oriented toward the site’s strongest sunlight.
A broad deck, swimming pool, and sunken fire-pit lounge flow directly into the great room, creating a continuous setting for living, cooking, dining, and gathering.
A solid stone plinth anchors the house at its four corners and forms a tabletop-like datum between the public rooms below and the private bedrooms above, all capped by a simple hip roof with unexpected views north toward Los Angeles and east toward the morning sun.
The project is an exercise in creating a welcoming interior world and a generous indoor-outdoor life within the familiar boundaries of a suburban lot.
